Being gentle allows us to interact in ways that are less harsh, more caring, considerate, and tender.

A gentle person attracts the trust of others because of their consistent, reliable, and steady character. They are aware of the needs of the people around them and willing to demonstrate their natural and peaceful disposition. Everyone carries gentleness within the core of their being.

There is nothing strong about the person who is quick to lose their temper and resort to aggression and violence in either words, and action. This is anything but strength.

Ways to Develop Strength Founded in Gentleness

  • Be conscious of your feelings: If you are sad, you are sad, if your angry then you are angry. And so it is!. Pretending will not make it disappear, it will just push those feelings beneath the surface. Every day check your emotions through your thoughts and feeling and what is your body telling you
  • Use the space between stimulus and response: Use “that space in between” something happening and when or how to respond to it
  • Allow yourself to care: It is easy to become disheartened and switch off your heart
  • Deepen your focus: Ask yourself why this situation matters. Why is this person important?  In gentleness we find a deeper sense of purpose
  • Be proactive: Decide what you are going to do. Rather than reacting, gentle people pause to consider their options, and from that “space in between the stimulus and response” comes a consideration of the consequences, better options, and better results
  • Follow up with the situation: Use empathy to connect with others and show understanding

Act of kindness: Offer someone a hug or tell them you appreciate them for something they did today or recently
