Farmers are especially vulnerable for several reasons:

–living in rural areas can mean a significant distance to quality care

–social isolation as they often work alone

–cultural expectations which discourage asking for help

–demanding jobs as they work long hours doing physical work, heavy lifting, around machinery

–economic stressors which include falling commodity prices, natural disasters that have harmed crop yields, increasing levels of farm debt
