Right now, our home is everything to us. We live, work, teach our children, and sometimes exercise there as well.
To ensure we are set up for success, we need to make sure our environment is working for us:
- Check your kitchen is ‘clean’:
- contains minimally processed whole foods
- contains lots of fresh fruit and vegetables
- is hygienically clean
- your fridge has some quick ‘go to’ snacks – crudités, boiled eggs, hummus, GHs muffins, etc
- your freezer has some GHs meals
- no cupboards full of high calorie snacks
- plenty of different-sized storage containers
- Adopt a sleep routine and create a cosy bedroom:
- limit your use of electronic devices
- a relaxation haven
- luxuriate in a bubble bath or take a lovely warm shower
- crisp clean sheets and comfy bedding
- listen to a mindfulness session before sleep
- Exercise
- have a daily plan
- stairs can be put to good use
- remember NEAT is great to burn extra calories
- Work
- have a set time and ‘switch off’ at the end of the day
- arrange a separate work area (if possible)
- remain flexible as you will have interruptions
- Lounge / dining area
- get some fresh flowers to brighten up (bring the outdoors inside)
- eat meals at the table
- create a relaxed atmosphere with candles and soft lighting
- Create a daily plan to schedule your day to ensure you achieve a work-life balance
